The Jean Griswold Foundation (JGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.

The Nonprofit Resource Training Grant offers up to $1,000 for tax-exempt organizations to send employees to essential training and conferences. This initiative supports community-based groups that serve low- to moderate-income populations and align with The Ready Commitment. By enhancing employee skills, the grant aims to strengthen nonprofits and their impact in the community, ensuring they provide valuable services effectively.

The Samuels Foundation's Healthy Aging Grant Program aims to enhance the health and quality of life for elderly residents in New York City. It supports innovative patient-based services that improve access to care, promote measurable quality changes, and address the needs of underserved populations. The Foundation prioritizes sustainable programs that continue to thrive post-funding, ensuring long-term positive impacts on the aging community through effective healthcare delivery and support services.

The Samuels Foundation: Performing Arts Grant supports New York City's not-for-profit performing arts organizations, focusing on high-quality productions in dance, music, opera, and theatre. With a commitment to both established and emerging groups, this grant aims to enhance the cultural landscape while maintaining an open-door policy for new applicants. Organizations may apply once a year, and while general operating support is prioritized, proposals for creative projects are also welcomed. Note that funding is limited, and not all applications will be successful.

The Oak Foundation's Housing and Homelessness Grant Program aims to reduce homelessness and improve housing conditions by supporting organizations that empower renters and advocate for equitable housing. The program focuses on enhancing renter rights, increasing the availability of affordable homes, and preventing homelessness through community-driven strategies. By addressing structural issues such as poverty and discrimination, the foundation seeks to create lasting change in housing accessibility for marginalized populations in both the US and UK.

Queens County community service nonprofits can receive free public service announcement distribution across F.Y. Eye’s NYC PSA Network, helping promote essential resources and programs to local residents. Focused on amplifying mission-driven messages for underserved New Yorkers, this in-kind media opportunity supports organizations ready to provide high-quality PSA artwork for digital screens and LinkNYC kiosks.

The Artists in Queens Grant, supported by the New York State Council on the Arts, aims to fund Queens-based artists in creating new works that engage the community. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and current residents of Queens. The program emphasizes community involvement through public presentations and creative interactions, enhancing cultural awareness and fostering community bonds. Successful applications will illustrate how the project enriches the local cultural landscape while advancing the artist's career.

The Queens Community Arts Grant, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, supports artists and organizations in Queens to enhance community culture through arts projects. Open to nonprofits and partnered groups, applicants can request funding between $1,000 and $7,500. The PLTW Launch program, supported by Burns and McDonnell, aims to enhance student engagement in STEM education within eligible communities. This initiative will provide grants to schools that implement at least one PLTW Launch module in the 2025-2026 academic year, followed by another module in subsequent years. The program is designed to empower students with hands-on learning experiences that connect real-world challenges to essential skills, fostering a stronger future in STEM fields.

Nonprofit organizations providing health care access, health education, or physical disability services in Queens County, New York can seek support from the Harry S. Black & Allon Fuller Fund. Awards range from US $1,000 - US $80,000, with one- or two-year support plus technical assistance.

The Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund Grant aims to enhance the capacity of community-based organizations led by people of color in New York City. Established with $2.5 million from the City Council, this fund supports organizations to address critical needs through various capacity-building projects. Eligible organizations can apply for funding ranging from $35,000 to $45,000 based on their budget size, with a focus on sustainable development and community engagement.

The Enbridge Safe Community First Responder Program is designed to support emergency response organizations across Canada and the U.S. by providing grants for safety equipment, training, and educational programs. Launched in 2002, it has invested over $22 million in enhancing community safety. Eligible organizations include fire departments and medical services located near Enbridge operations. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $10,000, helping improve the capabilities of first responders in rural and underserved areas.

The NRA Foundation State Fund Grant in New York supports initiatives that enhance firearms education, promote safety in shooting sports, and encourage responsible firearms use. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, government entities, and state-recognized nonprofits. The grant aims to provide financial assistance for projects that align with the Foundation's mission and foster public benefit. Organizations not recognized as nonprofits or governmental agencies must demonstrate equivalent public benefit to qualify for funding.

Since its founding in 1994 by Jim and Marilyn Simons, the foundation has been a champion of basic science through grant funding, support for research and public engagement. We believe in asking big questions and providing sustained support to researchers working to unravel the mysteries of the universe.

Junior Fellows of the Simons Society of Fellows

The Simons Foundation invites nominations for Junior Fellows of the Simons Society of Fellows. This year’s call is open to any individual who meets the nominator eligibility requirements outlined below and is interested in nominating a candidate for a Junior Fellowship.

Junior Fellows are outstanding young scientists who receive support from the foundation for up to 3 years to conduct independent research at an NYC educational institution. The foundation requires Junior Fellows to attend weekly lectures and dinners at the foundation during the academic year, as well as an annual conference and a 4-day weekend retreat.

Funding

Award Amount: In 2027/28, a Junior Fellow will receive a stipend of $102,799, funds for fringe benefits based on the host institutional fringe rate, as well as a $10,000 research allowance. The Junior Fellow’s New York City host institution will receive an additional 20 percent in indirect costs. A Junior Fellow’s salary support automatically increases by three percent each funding year.

Award Duration: Junior Fellows are appointed for up to three years. A fellowship must begin on July 1, August 1 or September 1, 2027.

Number of Awards: In 2027, the foundation expects to appoint up to 15 Junior Fellows.

Allowable Expenses

The research funds provided to the Junior Fellow may be used to support expenses in the following categories:

• Scientific domestic or international travel by the Junior Fellow.
• Small equipment, supplies and other expenses directly benefiting the Junior Fellow’s research.
• Expenses related to travel or hosting scientific visitors and collaborators.

The PositiveNRG Grant Program, led by NRG Energy, focuses on investing in communities through choice and education, community engagement, resilience, sustainability, and well-being. The program is open to non-profit organizations and governmental entities that can demonstrate a meaningful impact. Preference is given to initiatives that foster community involvement and inclusiveness. However, sponsorships for religious or political activities are generally not supported. This program aims to empower communities through innovative energy solutions.
