MyCAP, Middle School Career Connected Learning, and High School Work-based Learning

The My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) Planning and Implementation, Middle School Career Connected Learning, and Work-based Learning Grants provide supplementary support to districts/schools who are working to improve the college, career, and civic readiness for all students.

Option 2: 0424 Middle School Career Connected Learning

The purpose of this competitive grant is to support middle schools as they design learning opportunities that integrate academic learning, personal, social, and emotional development and career development with real-world applications. 

Middle school career connected learning is a whole school effort focused on building self-awareness, exploring diverse career options, and developing essential skills. This includes understanding personal strengths, skills, and interests, learning about different jobs and careers to align strengths, skills, and interests and practicing foundational skills like teamwork and communication that will become key employability skills.

Academic, technical, and experiential learning happens across the school in classrooms and core content instruction, in advisory, through comprehensive school counseling, through intentional career development activities (i.e., career speakers), and/or during extracurricular experiences.

Career connected learning is foundational to the MyCAP process. The state highly recommends using these funds for the development of a MyCAP middle school scope and sequence . However, for this grant, schools may choose to begin with development of a career connected learning process that aligns with the state career development model.

MyCAP, Middle School Career Connected Learning, and High School Work-based Learning

The My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) Planning and Implementation, Middle School Career Connected Learning, and Work-based Learning Grants provide supplementary support to districts/schools who are working to improve the college, career, and civic readiness for all students.

Option 3: 0413 Work-based Learning

This competitive grant is available to schools focused on building systems and strategically aligning resources to expand work-based learning opportunities for their students. This grant is intended to support the implementation of Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) Pathway as the new statewide work-based learning database.

This group's work will lead the state in the development of:

models and resources for implementing MEFA Pathway as the statewide student portal for Work-based Learning Plans and statewide work-based learning data collection including for purposes of Perkins V, Connecting Activities, and Youthworks;

models and resources for Work-based learning plans as part of MyCAP implementation;

models and resources for strategic use of Connecting Activities, YouthWorks, and related resources to expand students access to work-based learning opportunities and bring work-based learning opportunities to all secondary students;

opportunities to integrate Youthworks and Connecting activities planning and reporting tools; and

Recommendations for alignment of Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) career development model and YouthWorks employment engagement standards.

The William P. Wharton Trust Grant supports projects that align with the vision of its patron, focusing on tangible outcomes. It prioritizes land conservation efforts that protect natural resources over recreational use. The Trust aims to leverage funds for impactful environmental initiatives and encourages collaboration among organizations. Eligible applicants include public charities and governmental units, while grants are limited to direct project costs. Notably, the Trust avoids funding for overhead, construction, and educational programs for youth below college level.

The Zuckerman Fellowship offers aspiring leaders the opportunity to pursue an additional master’s degree from Harvard's Graduate School of Education, Kennedy School, or T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Designed for first-year students with a strong commitment to public service, this fellowship provides financial support, leadership development, and access to a robust network of mentors. The application process is separate from school admissions, emphasizing the importance of strong leadership potential and academic excellence.

The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust Grants provide essential financial support to nonprofit organizations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont, focusing on Health and Welfare, Dental Health, Camperships, Education, and Homeless Shelters. With a history of over 81 years, the Trust aims to assist those in need, especially in underserved populations. While they are currently not accepting unsolicited requests from colleges and universities, they continue to support initiatives that enhance community welfare and educational opportunities.

The Zuckerman Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School supports students pursuing an additional master’s degree while demonstrating exceptional leadership potential and commitment to public service. Eligible candidates include those enrolled in or accepted to accredited M.B.A., J.D., M.D., or D.D.S. programs. This prestigious fellowship provides financial support, leadership development, and mentorship opportunities, aiming to cultivate leaders who will address complex societal challenges. The program emphasizes the importance of high-quality professional training for impactful public leadership.

The M.S.P.A. Grant, offered by the Massachusetts Society for Promoting Agriculture, provides financial support to projects that enhance agriculture in Massachusetts. With grants ranging from $500 to $25,000, the Society focuses on initiatives that are economically and environmentally sound, promote knowledge of farming, and stimulate research in new areas. Founded in 1792, the Society has a long-standing commitment to advancing agricultural practices and supporting farmers in the region.

Offshore Wind Science and Research RFP

Massachusetts remains committed to offshore wind as a key energy source to provide critically needed energy, spur economic development, and create good-paying jobs. MassCEC recognizes that offshore wind development occurs in a dynamic ocean environment that supports existing marine industries of economic and cultural importance, is inhabited by critically endangered wildlife, and is itself undergoing climate-induced changes. These variables, among others, present a wide range of technical, logistical, and analytical research opportunities related to the offshore wind industry, particularly now that several projects have or soon will reach commercial operation. Focused science and research activities, and the organizational capacity to conduct that science and research, are needed in the near- and long-term to inform, optimize, and catalyze industry growth.   

The 2026 RFP will fund up to $2.5 million for projects aligned with priority research areas identified by MassCEC. While a broad array of research projects will be eligible to apply, this round of funding has also specified topic areas of interest within each of the following categories:

• Fisheries: Understanding Effects in Southern New England Lease Areas
• Wildlife and Habitat
• Regional Transmission Planning
• Gulf of Maine Regional Monitoring
• Communicating Existing Science and Research

MassCEC has allocated up to $2.5 Million Dollars ($2,500,000) in funding for awards and commitments under the Solicitation. We expect that awards will range from approximately $50,000 to $500,000. An application proposing higher amounts of MassCEC funding must present a compelling case for the funding need and potential outcomes toward achieving the Objectives.

These grants prioritize projects that benefit rural areas and offer funding without a maximum limit, although smaller requests are favored. Eligible applicants include rural public entities and nonprofit organizations. Funds can be used for a variety of purposes, such as business planning, training, and community development, fostering economic growth in underserved regions.

The Zuckerman Fellowship at Harvard is designed for first-year students pursuing additional master's degrees in education, public health, or public policy. It aims to support individuals with demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to public service. Recipients receive financial aid covering tuition and stipends, along with a leadership development program that connects them with mentors in various fields. This fellowship emphasizes the cultivation of impactful leaders in society, addressing complex challenges through advanced education.

The Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants in Massachusetts provide essential funding for organizations aiding low-income families in constructing their own homes. By supervising self-help projects, these grants enable participants to contribute labor while receiving technical assistance. Eligible applicants include government non-profits, tribes, and private organizations. Funds can be used for technical support and recruitment, while ineligible uses include hiring construction workers or purchasing materials, ensuring that assistance remains focused on empowering families.

The James M. Cox Foundation Grant offers support to nonprofit organizations focused on conservation, early childhood education, family empowerment, and health. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and located in areas where Cox Enterprises operates. Grant applications are accepted year-round, with deadlines before Trustee meetings. Preference is given to organizations with a history of local engagement. This foundation embodies the philanthropic spirit of its founder, James M. Cox, by giving back to the community.

The Rogers Family Foundation Fund supports nonprofit organizations focused on education, health, human services, community development, and the arts in Massachusetts' Merrimack Valley and North Shore, as well as Southeastern New Hampshire. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under 501(c)(3) and not classified as private foundations. Proposal deadlines are March 1 and September 1, with specific funding interests prioritized for program support.

The McNeice Foundation Grant, established by John A. McNeice, Jr., focuses on supporting the Roman Catholic Church and related charitable organizations in Massachusetts. It prioritizes immediate use of funds for educational and medical purposes, emphasizing the development of young people and assistance for the needy. Organizations should demonstrate efficient use of resources with low administrative costs. Awards are rarely granted outside Massachusetts, ensuring local impact and support.

The Norfolk Southern Corporate Giving: Safety First Grant Program aims to enhance community safety across its 22-state network. With grants ranging from $1,000 to $15,000, it supports organizations that provide safety services or promote safe behavior. This program reflects Norfolk Southern's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, empowering employees to engage locally. By investing in safety and workforce development, Norfolk Southern fosters thriving communities, demonstrating its dedication to social responsibility and community well-being.

The Community Facilities Grant Program in Massachusetts provides essential funding for developing community facilities in rural areas. This program supports public bodies, non-profits, and federally recognized tribes in purchasing, constructing, or improving vital services such as healthcare, education, and public safety. Eligible areas are rural communities with populations under 20,000, aiming to enhance quality of life through accessible facilities and services. Funding is available year-round, emphasizing support for low-income communities.

The MA Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) program supports agricultural producers in mitigating financial risks through diversification and conservation practices. Administered by NRCS, it provides financial assistance up to 75% for conservation costs, with a cap of $50,000 per participant annually. Eligibility includes land control and compliance with regulations. AMA is available in 16 states with historically low Federal Crop Insurance participation, promoting sustainable farming and resource management.

The KeyBank Foundation Grants support nonprofit organizations focused on enhancing communities through education, workforce development, and affordable housing. Founded in 1969, the Foundation prioritizes diversity, financial capability, and sustainability. Their grants aim to empower individuals for success by improving access to resources, fostering economic inclusion, and creating safe environments. By partnering with community organizations, KeyBank Foundation seeks to make a measurable impact and ensure lasting positive change for families and small businesses.

The Catalyst and DICES programs, managed by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), provide grants of up to $75,000 for early-stage climate technology projects. Catalyst supports researchers and companies in prototype development, while DICES focuses on funding underrepresented applicants in the cleantech sector. Both initiatives aim to foster innovation, stimulate commercialization, and ensure equitable access to resources and mentoring, contributing to Massachusetts' clean energy economy and climate leadership.

The Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant supports entry-level athletics administrative positions for one academic year, promoting diversity in NCAA Division II. It provides $30,000 for intern salaries and $3,000 for professional development, benefiting six schools annually from a total budget of $180,000. Eligible applicants must be active NCAA members, with a focus on enhancing ethnic minority and gender representation in athletics administration. This initiative encourages professional growth and compliance in diverse environments.

The Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program in Massachusetts provides essential funding to improve drinking water systems, sewage disposal, solid waste management, and stormwater drainage in eligible rural areas. This initiative supports state and local governments, private nonprofits, and federally-recognized tribes to ensure access to clean water and effective waste management. Funds can cover construction costs, legal fees, and necessary equipment, enhancing community health and environmental sustainability.

The National Coastal Resilience Fund (NCRF) aims to protect coastal communities through nature-based solutions, enhancing habitats while addressing the growing threats of climate change. Established in 2018, the fund focuses on restoring vital ecosystems like marshes and reefs to mitigate flooding impacts. With rising sea levels and increasing storm intensity, NCRF invests in community-led projects that foster resilience, ensuring both people and wildlife can adapt to changing environmental conditions.

The MA Drinking Water Supply Protection Grant Program provides essential funding to public water systems and municipal water departments for acquiring land to protect current and future public drinking water supplies and support groundwater recharge. This reimbursement program offers a maximum award of $350,000 with a reimbursement rate of 60%. It aims to enhance water supply safety and sustainability across Massachusetts.

The Jason Hayes Foundation Grants aim to support children and young adults aged 5-18 who have faced early childhood trauma, including abuse and homelessness. The foundation focuses on partnering with organizations that provide direct services to this vulnerable population, particularly those in or aging out of the foster care system. They encourage grant applications year-round, especially between October 1 and December 16, to ensure timely funding for impactful projects.
