Thomas W. Haggerty Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship/donor advised fund established by Mrs. Ellen Haggerty in memory of her husband, Thomas, who was a social worker in Wappingers Central School District, income from this fund is used to provide scholarships to graduating seniors of John Jay High School and/or Roy C. Ketcham High School who have struggled to overcome personal, financial, family, or educational difficulties.

Stephanie D. Brown and Barbara M. Murphy Memorial Scholarship

Established by the family of Stephanie Brown and Barbara Murphy to honor their memories. Stephanie was devoted to children and was tragically killed in a car accident. Barbara was a devoted mother to Stephanie, a Board member of the Community Foundations and held many job titles including that of teacher. This scholarship is available to female Dutchess County high school graduating seniors who intend to major or minor in Education with career plans to teach in Elementary, Middle or High School.

Selected artists receive a $5,000 budget for studio rentals and materials, culminating in a public presentation of their work. The UrbanGlass Visiting Artist and Designer Fellowship offers artists and designers the chance to explore glass as a creative medium. Ruth Oja Environmental Scholarship

Established by the Red Hook Town Conservation Advisory Council in honor of Ruth Oja, this scholarship is available to students who are residents of Red Hook, NY who are college bound graduating high school seniors or the home-schooled equivalent pursuing studies in environmental science or a related discipline or who have demonstrated a sensitivity to the environment through leadership/participation in pro-environmental programs like recycling, land conservancy, environmental cleanup projects, etc. This scholarship shall be applied to tuition costs at an accredited college university or trade school.

Cuvelier Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1995 by Elinor M. Cuvelier, a longtime resident of Wayne County, in honor of her family.

Purpose of Scholarship

• To provide scholarships to high school seniors in Wayne County who will be attending a four-year college or university.

Award Details

• Number of recipients and individual total award amounts vary annually. Award paid over four years of study in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters. 
• Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.
• This scholarship is renewable up to three times for a total of four awards in four consecutive years.

The Frank and Lydia Bergen Foundation Grant supports classical music and musical education, honoring Charlotte V. Bergen's legacy. Established in 1983, it provides funding to 501(c)(3) organizations, particularly in the New York/New Jersey area. The foundation prioritizes projects that aid music students and promote educational concerts. Organizations must not have received grants for three consecutive years to be eligible for future funding. Grants foster the appreciation and performance of fine music, enriching community cultural life.

Kathleen McElligott Hall Memorial Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to students in upstate New York State to continue their education in the field of nursing.

Number and Size of Awards

One award of $3,000; paid as $1,000 per year for up to three consecutive years of undergraduate study. Award paid in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Donor Information

This scholarship was established as a tribute to Kathy after her untimely death from cancer at the age of 50. A graduate of Mercy High School, Kathy went on receive a degree in nursing. She was a member of the Legal Nurses Association, employed by the New York State Health Department, and provided medical consultations to many local attorneys. In addition to being an excellent nurse, Kathy was a devoted wife and mother, and a true friend to all who knew her.

The Bloomberg Data Science Ph.D. Fellowship invites exceptional doctoral students to apply for support in groundbreaking research for the 2024-2025 academic year. The fellowship covers full tuition and provides a stipend of $42,000, along with mentorship and internship opportunities. Applicants must be full-time students with a graduation date by 2027 and must complete a 14-week research internship. The David Whitehouse Research Residency for Scholars at The Corning Museum of Glass offers a unique opportunity for scholars to engage with the museum's extensive glass research resources. Named after former director David Whitehouse, this residency supports research in glass-related topics and provides access to the Rakow Research Library. Residencies, lasting from one to three weeks, include transportation, room, and board, fostering collaboration with museum experts to advance knowledge in the field.
